Diabetes is among the top ten causes of death worldwide. 25% of patients face problem of 'Diabetic foot ulcer.'

Researchers have developed a cost-effective bandage treatment, called 'scaffold' to treat diabetic ulcers.

Scaffold treatment has been designed by researchers at Queen's University Belfast.

Their study says that 3D bioprinting produced, the scaffolds slowly release antibiotics within a four-week period to effectively treat the wound.

These scaffolds are like doors that enable doctors to monitor or evaluate the healing constantly.

The scaffold has two molecular layers which will play an important role in healing the wound caused by diabtic ulcer.

Over 70 per cent of cases result in lower limb amputation. This new research will show good outcomes for patient.
